Simple spontaneous utterances of Sri Ramakrishna for simple people drawn by His Charming and Extraordinary  Ecstatic State. (Kriya Yoga Teachings and practices may be too complicated for the commoners to assimilate / appreciate.)

1) One devotee asked Shri Ramakrishna – Why are we so blind ? Why cannot we see God?

Ramakrishna – Sun can give heat and light, but it can do nothing, when the clouds shut out its  rays. Ego is the cloud  preventing the sunshine of Divinity.

2) What is that stage, which being reached, one may be called a Paramahansa?

Ramakrishna - Just as the swan separates milk from the water and consumes only the milk leaving the water behind, likewise Paramahansa also accepts only the essence, the Real.

3) Why Guru is necessary?

Ramakrishna - When someone is going to a strange country, he must abide by the directions of one who knows the road. Taking the advice from others would lead to confusion. If you seek legal advice, you consult a lawyer. Surely, you will not take the advice of a man on the street.

4) How should we find the Guru?

Ramakrishna - Earnestness and open eyes lead to Sat Guru who dispels the darkness of mind with the Light of Life. That is the Divine Design.

5) Guru is not personality (ego), but a process (existential). Reach him with ego-less-ness and full energy of understanding — without  any trace of ego-centric mental undertakings.
