Akhanda Mandalakaram Vyaptam Yena characharam

Tatpadam darshitam yena Tasmai Shree Gurave namah

 

The formless ‘That’, that pervades the whole Universe,

That which is the energy in all moving and immovable material beings

By whose grace one gets his ‘feet’, to that Guru Energy, my salutation

 

Agnyanatimirandhasya Gnyananjana shalakaya

Chakshurunmilitamyena Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah

 

That Energy by the grace of which the ignorance in this body is removed

That which ‘opens’ the eyes to That emptiness,

To that Guru Energy, my salutations

 

Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu Gurur Devo Maheshwara

Guru Sakshat Parabrahma Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah

 

This Energy (Guru) is the creator of matter, It is the one that protects it,

It is the one that destroys it.

This Energy is the Supreme Un-knowable, To that Guru Energy, my salutations

 

Sthavaram Jangam Vyaptam Yatkinchita sa characharam

Tatpadam darshitam yena Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah

 

That which pervades all. The moving, the non-moving

That whose grace permits the penetration of Understanding,

To that Guru Energy, my salutations

 

Sarvashruti Shiroratnam Samutbhasi murtaye

Vedantambuja suryoyam Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah

 

That which is the ending of knowledge; That which then shines like a jewel in one’s being

That by whom the beginning of knowing happens like a blooming lotus - bright as a Sun,

To that Guru Energy, my salutation

 

Chaitanya shashvata shanto Vyomateetoniranjana

Bindu nada kala teetam Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah

 

That Intelligence, Tranquil, pure, beyond all material things

(Space, Time, matter, ether)

To that Guru Energy my salutation

 

Gnyanashakti samaroodha Tatvamala vibhooshita

Bhutki mukti pradanacha Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah

 

That which is Supreme Intelligence, Supreme Energy

Adorned with the garland of the only Truth (of itself, of that emptiness, that holiness)

By whose grace even worldly life is protected, To that Guru Energy, my salutations

 

Aneka janma samprapta karmendhana vidahine

Aatmagnyanagni danena Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah

By whose grace the real action of non-doing happens, whose grace ends all action of the “I”

Whose grace verily, enables this very Swadhyay to happen, To that Guru Energy, my salutation

 

Shoshanam Bhavasindhoshcha prapanam sarasampada

Yasya padodakam samyak Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah

 

That which frees one from the bondage of conditioning through its grace

That, on surrendering at whose ‘feet’, one is set free of all “I” ness

To that Guru Energy, my salutation

 

Na Gururoradhikam tatvam Na Gururoradhikam tapah

Tatvagnyanat param naasti Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah

 

There is no Truth higher than That, There is no Action higher than That

That whose grace reveals this wonderful Truth,

To that Guru Energy, my salutation

 

Mannatha Shree Jagannatha, Madguru Shree Jagat Guru

Madaatma sarva bhootatma Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah

 

This Energy is the Energy pervading All, my Lord; This Energy is the Guru of all matter, my Lord

This same Energy in this (my) body is the Energy everywhere,

To that Guru Energy, my salutation

 

Gururadirnaadishcha Guru param daivatam

Guro parataram naasti Tasmai Shree Gurave Namah

 

This Energy was always there, This Energy is Divinity Supreme

There is no Truth surpassing this. To that Guru Energy, my salutation

 

Brahmanandam parama sukhadam kevalam Gnyanamoortim

Dwandwateetam trigunarahitam Tatwamasyadhilakshyam

Ekam Nityam Vimalam Achalam Sarvadi Sakshibhootam

Bhavateetam Gaganasadrisham Sat Gurum Tam Namaami

 

This is the bliss of Supreme Energy, This is the Energy of Understanding

This resolves the dichotomy of duality; This frees one from the traits and tendencies inborn and accumulated;

Herein is verily That!; The One; Ever in existence; Stainless, Innocent; Still; Choiceless Witness;

Beyond the bondage of mind and its emotions, Emptiness.
