There was an intense emptiness in Shibendu’s consciousness which was very still at the inaugural session. Shibendu was in total nothingness and there was nothing to begin with. There was a great sense of affection, not for anything or for anyone, but just the fullness of what may be called ‘love’. We have unfortunately spoilt this word and loaded it with meaningless substance of our own narrow little selves and thus we repeatedly return to our everyday confusion and misery. But there it was in every participant! There was nothing romantic, nor any rationalized verbalization. Love was there, energy of understanding was there, as factual as the furniture in the hall. This beauty of love at the retreat had nothing to do with the ‘respectability’ of a sectarian religious gathering. There was no refined or reckless self-conceit in the hall. Waves of love from the trees around were entering into the hall and benediction was there.
As Shibendu was vacant, he asked the audience why they have come to this retreat. Following were the responses from the participants and comments from Shibendu: -
Response 1: I am here for gathering of energy. Indeed a lot of energy was generated in the past retreats.
Comment: Religion is the gathering of energy to see actuality, to see what is. In the name of religion, we merely pretend to know that which we actually do not know. Such pretensions arise due to pressures & prejudices superimposed by the past conditioning and by borrowed beliefs. We go on wasting energy in seeking false security in ‘what should be’. You are therefore most welcome here to be truly and deeply religious.
R 2: Perhaps there would be more understanding about the activities of the ‘I’; the ‘me’ which invariably bring enormous sorrow in the long run. This understanding was surely available in past retreats.
C: Fictitious separation of ‘I’ from the field of fragmentations in the human consciousness is the source of all conflict & suffering. It is possible to have a fire of attention wherein the self-sustaining activity of ‘I’ hiding behind every human affair gets burnt out from moment to moment for revelation of intelligence and insight.
R 3: There was a feeling of having been blasted in the past retreat. This has brought me here. Let it happen again and again – this taste of freedom from the burden of ‘me’.
C: Factual registrations in the memory do not constitute the burden. The concomitant psychological recording with their residues and sediments is the bondage and the burden.
R 4: To be in the good company of other kriyabans ignite the fire of attention in myself.
C: This does happen as a process of induction. Awaking of Intelligence does happen in the Retreat unless one is an idiot beyond redemption.
R 5: Retreat helps in better understanding of the practice.
C: Can there be the spirit of non-doership in practice? This is ‘I-less-ness’ not idleness while doing practice. This is indeed a great blessing. Practice then reveals deep perceptions of radical change in the consciousness.
R 6: Retreat awakens us to a new way of looking at daily affairs.
C: It is an observation wherein a mutation between the observer and the observed has taken place.
R 7: I enjoy meeting my ‘Spiritual father’ once again.
C: It is nice to have a ‘Spiritual father’ in addition to the biological father.
R 8: I enjoy a glimpse of ‘no-mind’.
C: This ‘no-mind’ has nothing against mind. It is the ending of man’s mania.
R 9: Being in retreat brings relief. Kriya Yoga gives a feeling of well-being.
C: Kriya Yoga is the science of de-conditioning, deprogramming.
R 10: I feel unconditional love in the retreats.
C: Waves of love in the true sense --- not priests loving their so-called god, not politicians playing with the word.
R 11: There is a light in Retreats which destroys the darkness of dependency on superstitions and belief-systems.
C: One perhaps becomes a light to oneself.
R 12: I have come here to get higher initiation. I went through all the steps and I now feel ready for it.
C: You are most welcome.
R 13: It is amazing to see you suffering physical sciatica pain and yet no sufferer seems to exist. This is a paradox for us.
C: Thank God for his Grace.
R 14: In retreat, I travel from mental undertaking to most profound understanding which does not appear as experience.
C: This travel is not a process of becoming! It is freedom in the existential being.
Russian Kriyabans have decided this year to hold next year’s program on Initiation and Retreat on a ship moving along the majestic & magnanimous Volga and in the Russian Waters of the Caspian Sea. It would be a 10-days’ residence on water within the period from 10 to 30 June, 2008. Exact dates will be fixed in due course of time. They want it to be an international event and therefore they will invite one and all, who can afford to participate. Let us wish Russian Kriyabans of the dynamic dynastic lineage all enthusiasm and success.
