Prof. Mohsin Hamid held high Academic positions in American and Pakistani Universities. His above book — an excellent product from a high profile intellectual written with marvelous style and articulation — keeps the reader spell-bound and full of appreciation of his extraordinary capacity of literary expression and presentation.

Although Prof. Hamid is Muslim — belonging to the fanatic community whose members consider it ‘holy’ to Kill ‘kufirs’ (non-muslims) in order to be welcomed by ‘Allah’ himself in ‘Heaven’ and all the rest of the Islamic belief-system and bigotry; — he is ‘reluctant’ to be such a Fundamentalist.

An intellectual reluctance, of course! There is no evidence of any insightful perception in this ‘Arm-Chair-Reluctance’!! There is not a word of condemnation of the rampant terrorist-activities killing innocent people in the name of ‘Islam’ — whose dictionary meaning is peace! He is only ‘reluctant’, he does not have the courage and conviction to say the truth which Salman Rushdie did.
